چکیده
The oxidation behaviour of the pesting-resistant eutectic alloy Mo-20Si-52.8Ti was investigated by addressing microstructural and chemical constitution grazing incidence X-ray diffraction GIXRD atom probe tomography APT oxide scales formed at 800 1200 °C in order to understand their protective character. duplex Si-Ti-oxide scale air, i.e. within so-called “pesting regime”, is considerably slow growing with a thickness (11 ± 3) ?m after 1000 h exposure. It composed Ti(+IV)-oxide composition approximately TiO2.1 confirmed SiO2 islands, which are most likely amorphous. °C, potential application temperature, characterised top single-phase an underlying increased (68 11) total. consists rutile TiO2 some cristobalite as determined GIXRD. analysis Ti-oxide confirms stoichiometry TiO2.2. comprising Ti- Si-oxide strongly off-stoichiometric compounds, namely TiO1.4 SiO1.6. Initial linear growth kinetics found change cubic for exposure times longer than 100 h. At higher temperatures 1100 diffusion-controlled, almost parabolic prevail.

Mo-Si-B Alloy Development
Alloys consisting of the phases α-Mo (Mo solid solution), Mo3Si, and Mo5SiB2 (“T2”) were fabricated by ingot and powder metallurgy. A novel powder-metallurgical processing technique was developed which allows the fabrication of silicide alloys with a continuous α-Mo matrix. In these alloys the relatively ductile and tough α-Mo matrix acts as a “binder” for brittle silicide particles. An alloy p...
متن کاملPhotoelectrochemical Water Splitting Properties of Ti-Ni-Si-O Nanostructures on Ti-Ni-Si Alloy
Ti-Ni-Si-O nanostructures were successfully prepared on Ti-1Ni-5Si alloy foils via electrochemical anodization in ethylene glycol/glycerol solutions containing a small amount of water. The Ti-Ni-Si-O nanostructures were characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and diffuse reflectance absorption spectra....
متن کاملMicrostructural Evaluation of Ti-6AL-4V Alloy during Hot Deformation
Among the titanium alloys, Ti-6Al-4V is the most widely used. In the present work, the uniaxial hot compressive behavior of Ti-6Al-4V has been investigated under constant strain rates. A series of dilatometery experiments were carried out to determine the transformation temperatures at different cooling rates. Specimens were homogenized at 1050 °C for 10 minutes followed by fast cooling to dif...
متن کاملPseudo-elastic deformation behavior in a Ti/Mo-based alloy
It is shown that the pseudo-elastic response in a series of Ti–Mo–V–Nb–Al alloys with 8–11 wt.% Mo is highly sensitive to both composition and heat treatment. Recovery of up to 3.0% strain has been observed but it appears that this may not be due to reversible formation of a00 martensite. 2003 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
